FILM v PROFILE
While testing a new set of profiles made to emulate the look of Fujifilm Superia Premium 400 I took a walk with two very different cameras and lens combinations to see how they would compare.
FILM - Fuji Superia Premium 400
DIGITAL - Superia Premium 400 Lightroom Profile
The film camera is my trusty Canon EOS 3, a beautiful brass body tank of an SLR, paired with the 50mm f1.4 EF. Film scanned on a Fuji Frontier SP3000.
The digital camera is the Sony A7IV with one of my favorite lenses, the G Master 50mm f1.2.

I originally intended these images to be for my own testing but I thought the results were worth sharing here.
Are there differences? Of course. There are some variables like lenses, dynamic range, and variances between film rolls and scans that profiles can’t change or compensate for. However the soul of the film has been replicated and can be applied without plugins or time consuming post processing.

I metered the film at +1 and used the Fuji Superia Premium +1 Profile on the RAW files.
The only adjustments made to the RAW files were to normalize exposure, white balance and contrast, this was done by eye as I wanted the results to be realistic.
