How are these profile based film emulations better than presets?
Built from real film scans and pro lab testing, each profile captures the unique character of an iconic film stock with stunning accuracy. Presets rely on slider tweaks within Lightroom itself and when it comes to color they tend to make broad, imprecise changes. In Lightroom, tools like HSL or Color Grading can’t isolate skin tone or a specific deep green without affecting the image as a whole. These profiles are not just a saved preset, they work beneath the surface, allowing for far more nuanced color control.
Custom Process From Target To Profile.
Even higher precision targets like the X-Rite Digital SG can’t provide the level of accuracy needed to emulate film, these off the shelf targets only contain a small number of patches and the colors in between become interpolated. In other words, they’re not very accurate. Our profiles are built from custom targets, sampled across varied lighting and exposure conditions. This custom process delivers rich, true to film tones that stay consistent and are easy to use. The result? A set of emulations that don’t just look like film, they feel like it.
